Module 7

The aims of this module are:



  1. To offer a definition of Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND).
  2. To highlight the processes most schools use to identify and monitor the needs of SEND pupils.
  3. To offer a range of specific strategies, which will help you to manage children with SEND within the classroom.

School context
Each school has a designated coordinator for Special Educational Needs and Disability known as a SENDCo. Your welcome to a school, particularly as an NQT, should include an introduction to the SENDCo. He/she will remain a colleague from whom you should expect to seek advice and guidance with regard the learning and behaviour of SEND pupils within your classes
