Managing lessons on a daily basis
Be prepared! As the pupils arrive
The aims on this unit are:
- To know when and how to use strategies to promote good behaviour.
- To introduce a set of Wave 1: Whole Class behaviour management strategies to use as pupils arrive at your lessons.
- To identify the characteristics of teacher behaviour, which can influence and set high expectations for pupil behaviour, as the class arrives.
You will hear your group arriving. Other groups will be passing your door and this movement always generates high level noise patterns in the corridor.
Pupils often arrive in lively spirits and need calming strategies, so you will need to be prepared to take control of the class from the minute they arrive. If adults are present and observing pupils arriving, there is less chance of issues flaring up.
