  • Be aware of the learning, social and emotional needs of pupils with SEN
  • Use a variety of different teaching styles and strategies to engage all pupils
  • Promote active and independent learning
  • Teach assertively and maintain appropriate pace
  • Set and maintain high expectations in your classroom
  • Use your teaching voice effectively
  • Use praise and encouragement to reward the behaviour and learning you want to achieve
  • Use open questioning techniques
  • Intervene early, when behaviour issues arise, to maintain or refocus pupils on task
